I think most of you know at this point that we have a Chinese exchange student living with us this school year. She is from Chongqing, she will be 17 on Saturday, and she is from a upper middle class family. She is so anxious to teach us anything and everything she can about China, the history, the language, the food, culture and heritage. She is very proud of her country. Anyway, she and I have decided that she will contribute to the blog when she has time, and we would like to start by allowing ya'll to ask her some questions. Please be polite, and respectful, but feel free to ask what you like. I will leave this up for a few days, we will reconcile the questions and try to get them answered later in the week.
You can ask questions of me too. But Shiyu is far more interesting than I will ever be:)

Hmmmmmm...
What advice did your parents give you about Americans/coming to America?
Would you consider adopting a second or third child?
What is Shiyu's favorite music?
I would love to know how the education system here compares to her school in China. Do the classes seem easier? Harder? How is the social situation in comparison? At what age do Chinese children (probably teens) start interacting with the opposite gender? Are there cliques at school?
Okay, big question.
We too are hosting a Chinese exchange student this year and we are so happy to have her as a member of our family! Along with Yaolin, we are also on the slow boat to China to adopt our first daughter with a LID of 11.14.06. Please welcome Shiyu to the USA for us!

What has been the surprising, exiting, and disappointing thing about America so far?
Besides her family, what does she miss the most about China?
oopps....I meant exciting by the way...
Do you like Turnip Cake? Is DimSum similar or different here in the US than back home? What is your favorite color? How are you liking the weather in TX?? Has your exchange-mother convinced you to become a flight attendant??
Love you guys. XO
What has been your best experience so far in the US? Your scariest?

Where does your family go or what do they do for holiday/vacation? Sightseeing? visiting family?
What does she think of American shopping malls? Has she watched any football yet and what does she think of it if she has?
Hi Shiyu!
What has been your favorite food in America?
What is it about Americans that surprises you the most?
What do you think about Americans adopting Chinese children? What do people in China think about Americans adopting Chinese children?
I hope you are having a great time with Julie... she is a very kind and loving woman :)
